The executive desk Monclova Oh

The cutting and assembly process is finally underchoice with the executive desk project! The maple has been stained, but not finished, and it is time to start making a layout.
The maple has been stained first in order to avoid build up in the corners and cavities, and to get a more even look, as it should be. I have enlisted the help of a stainer for this project in order to free me up for other jobs. Bob has done a nice job working with me on this so far.
Now I am ready to make my layout. If you are sitting at the desk, we want to have two drawer on each side and one in the middle. The two lower drawers are to be file folder drawers, so Ive had to figure the dimensions of those drawers first. Interestingly enough, the entire desks measurements revolve around the measurements of a file folder!!!
After determining my layout, Ive cut the panels for the desk, as well as the center partition. Then, Ive made all of my dado and rabbit joint cuts, mostly on the router table. Ive also notched the front corners of the panels so I can tie everything in with front bracing.
Here are some pics of where the desk is going. The objective is to make the desk match this rooms frame and panel look, along with the chair rail and inset trim, as well as the color. The trims were a little tricky to find, since the company that made them for this room is now out of business!
More to come...
