Greetings!Ive started my next project. It is a dollhouse for my friend and co-worker -Peaches. Being that this is going to be a larger peice, I decided to build it in the shop in Michigan where there is plenty of room. She asked for the following criteria in this peice: A 2 story house for her daughter, similar to the one I made for Abby. Also a stairchoice (obviously) and a front porch. But here was the catch: It needs to be sized for a Barbie collection! I had to go and get a Barbie and measure it - 11 1/2" tall. Of course, I made sure to get the blonde surfs-up Barbie with the bikini! Peaches will be finishing this with her daughters help...These measurements means the house will be over 3 feet tall! And, in order to get it proportioned correctly, it will need to be 4 wide, and over 2 deep! This is going to be a monster-sized dollhouse! So, with those specs, I decided to add another feature: Storage! I am designing a storage area on top of the house, and will be making a double hinged top, complete with a railing, so Barbie can entertain on the penthouse! I am using 3/4" A-grade maple plywood for the main structure. This is not cheap stuff, so I need to make sure everything is on the money and exact. No miss cuts here! This is my kind of project - I love it when I have to be exact! Here are the photos from the work done on Day 1. I managed to get the superstructure cut and sized, including all dado joints, and assembled, glued, screwed, and clamped for the next few days to dry and set.
